More activities, more projects, more members and more business mean the need for more space! The Chamber of Commerce is moving around the corner to the storefront facing Washington Street that formerly housed the Kumon Learning Center. The move is planned for early September.
“We will have more space and more resources for members…like a place for small Chamber meetings, members’ private meetings, and drop in work stations. And the new space is within our budget,” explained Nancy Bruton, Chamber Executive Director. The new location will be more visible and will include the Sherwood Visitors Bureau and its staff.
Five members of the newly formed Chamber of Commerce Community Affairs Committee had a “first look” at proposed changes in rules affecting Sherwood businesses. As part of the city’s code clean up project, the Planning Department invited the Chamber Committee to provide input to planned changes. The discussion generated many comments and suggestions to build a stronger working relationship between city staffs and the business community.
The Community Affairs Committee is chartered with advocating at all government levels for an environment supporting business development and growth, and with researching and providing information to the Chamber board on local, regional and state government issues and actions.
