The next Oregon Small Business Forum is scheduled for Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon.  This Forum for organizations that serve small business is a FREE event held twice each year.  The Forum is sponsored by the Social Security Administration, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Small Business Administration.  It is hosted by the Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs.  Rather than trying to reach each small business inOregon, the goal of the Forum is to leverage the distribution of the latest information and resources for small business through the organizations that do outreach to small business.

The structure of the Forum is threefold:

1. A Focus Area Topic is chosen by the participants of the previous Forum.   The Focus Area Topic will be “How a Business Coach Can Help Small Business Achieve Success and Resources available in Oregon.”   We have a speaker for SCORE (Jim Steiner), and an SBDC Speaker (Merrill Watts) and a Speaker from the Governor’s Office of Economic & Business Equity (Cheryl Myers), and a speaker from Mercy Corps Northwest (Doug Cooper).  The speakers will focus on the resources available and advantages of business coaching to enhance the success of small businesses inOregon.

2. Networking happens before the Forum, during the break, and after the Forum.  This often results in new partnerships and new ways to serve small businesses inOregon.

3. An informal Roundtable occurs after the Focus Area Topic where everyone present has an opportunity to share their resources, hot topics, and new information with those present.

Attached is the flyer about the Oregon Small Business Forum.  Feel free to share the flyer with other business outreach organizations you think may be interested.

On behalf of SSA, IRS, and SBA, we hope you can participate in this January Forum to enhance the success of small business inOregon.  If you are unable to attend, perhaps you could send a delegate to bring this valuable information back to your organization?
